Wishtoyo Warriors

So awhile back I got an email from William Marquis (the writer of I. Den of Thieves) asking if I could do some character designs for his new script Wishtoyo Warriors. I read the script and thought it was a lot of fun, and made up these designs...

I sent them out and then was asked to illustrate the first few pages, which then turned into illustrating the whole book!

As of right now the book is still in production and should be out this fall. In the meantime here are some illustrations that William showed off at this years Inktip pitch fest.

To start off, here are a few more character designs (guess which one is the villain)...

And here are a few key scenes throughout the story...

Helek is introduced hunting a boar and while doing so...

Helek discovers a mysterious rainbow.

The mysterious rainbow arrives at present day.

The Chumash Ceremony and the initiation of the Wishtoyo Warriors!

Welcome to the Garbage World.

The Pumpkin storm.

The Great Eagle escapes!

Our heroes being chased by the giant mole!

They discover the Great Snake asleep.

Tazi must choose the true Great Frog.

Tazi and Overlord Cough Cough face off!

More to come of the Wishtoyo Warriors as it goes along, but real quick before this blog comes to a close, a funny story that I always like to tell people about this project. This all began soon after the Bruins won the Stanley Cup, and just in case you forgot they beat Vancouver who after losing, burnt down their city. So we had been working together for a little while, communicating through emails, and I wrote to him saying, "have a happy fourth of July weekend!"

He then wrote back "Wait, where are you from?"

"I'm from Boston."

"Oh, I'm from Vancouver."

So at that point I thought that was it for the job, but luckily for me William is a Maple Leaf's fan and dodged a bullet there.

Chikara Web Comic: The Secret Origin of Frightmare

Also known as "Mommy, where do Frightmares come from?" Written by Joey Esposito and art by me! Here is the complete web comic!

Here is the link to the Chikara's webcomic site.

So I was brought into this project by the good people at 215 Ink after I met them at NYC Comic Con. I was told that they were looking for artists for this project with Chikara Wrestling. So I thought I would be drawing Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man Randy Savage type characters running around in the ring. This especially got my brother excited who has always been a big wrestling fan (before I got the script he was showing me a bunch of wrestling moves on youtube). Once I got the script however I realized that it had nothing to do with wrestling and that it was more of a superhero monster horror story! I soon figured out that in Chikara, all the wrestlers have crazy back stories like this. I was also told that they have slow motion matches and the crowd will play along, cheering in slow motion. That has nothing to do with the comic but I think it's cool.

So that's the story and I hope the real Frightmare, Hallowicked, Delirious, and Ultramantis Black dig this!

Mario Gets His

And while I'm at it this morning, I thought I should show off this comic I made up where that turtle stomping plumber gets his.

Doons: The Need to Bleed Coming Soon!

Thought I should show off the first couple of pages of Doons: The Need to Bleed that should be out this summer!

Written by Stephen Lindsay (Jesus Hates Zombies) and art by me, the story is about a world where Trolls exist and are treated like 4th class citizens. Our hero Doons is a get-a-way driver and a bare knuckle boxer (shown here) working for the mob.

So keep your eyes open this summer, more details and maybe more sneak peaks on the way!

Variant Cover for The Red Ten #2

The Red Ten #2 is coming out, but I suggest picking up the variant cover done by some guy I like to call me.

After the first issues success Tyler James (the writer and producer) and my buddy Larry at Larry's comics asked me to draw a pin up of the Oxymoron (the villain of the series) for the next issue. They were so happy with it they decided to turn it into a variant cover, which will be on sale this Wednesday!

Here is what the issue is all about...
The next chapter of the thrilling 10 issue maxi-series that’s an Agatha Christie-style whodunnit meets The Justice League. In the second issue, after narrowly escaping an explosion that took the lives of one of their own, The Alliance uncovers new and deadly horrors awaiting them on the island. Plus, the tragic origin of Red!

So keep your eyes open and pick up a copy!

I'm getting hitched!

So you may have noticed women crying all over the world. Well that's because I'm getting married! So myself and Ashley Cook are tying the knot the summer of 2013!

It all went down like this, Ashley and I celebrate our own Christmas a week before because her family is in Vermont and mine is in Massachusetts. Ashley would always joke the best proposal would be that she would say "I love you" and I would reply "well if you love me so much why don't you marry me?" So our Christmas morning we open presents and Ashley's last one is a box with a note saying "if you love me so much..."

So Ashley said yes, and then told me that she is in fact a giant ant in disguise.

(above, my soon to be in laws)
So we are getting married and I will put up news on upcoming events as they come!
