Horror-View's review of Poe Twisted

Horror View has recently reviewed the Poe Twisted anthology and here is what they had to say about yours truly...

Poe’s “Eldorado” is celebrated next by Windham-Kent & Cormack. The gritty story follows the tortured protagonist and his horse, as he seeks the titular place where he will finally find peace. Instead, there’s a who lot of violence, brought to un-life by Cormack’s fantastic art and Windham-Kent’s well-paced storytelling.

“The Tell Tale Cat” by Cormack follows two investigating officers as they check in on frumpy old Vincent Allen. Mrs. Allen disappeared days earlier, and there aren’t any suspects other than Allen himself. The sloppy drunk (drawn with the perfect amount of embellishment by Cormack) welcomes the officers into his home, only to be betrayed by the titular house pet. The Cat then proceeds to lead the officers through a series of tongue-in-cheek instances of other Poe stories.

To read the whole article you can check it out here!

Also come by Harvard bookstore tonight (anytime after 7) to pick up Minimum Paige which features two of my comics (Quarters and the Essex County Literary Wax Museum & Menagerie!) I guess they are going to have Jam comics and a raffle with all proceeds donated to a local comics charity, some prizes include a signed Terry Moore Sketchbook, Will Eisner Book, and Women of the DCU (not sure if a book or literally the women) and more!

The Harvard Book Store's Minimum Paige

"Minimum Paige," Harvard Book Store's first ever graphic novel anthology will be publishing two comics of mine!

"Quarters" which if you saw me at any of the recent shows I was at, you probably saw this sweet quickie. It's the tale of a Superhero on the search for change! If anyone remembers the comic I did "A Quick Buck," it's basically a retelling of that one, only better!

The longest title in the Alex Cormack catalog, "Essex County Literary Wax Museum & Menagerie!" Written by J.L. Bell and illustrated by me! This one tells the story of Story, the curator of the before mentioned museum having to deal with some less then worthy guests. J.L. Bell also writes the blog Oz and Ends which you can read here.

The release party is next week, the 22nd of September at the Harvard Book Store where you can meet me and most likely J.L. Bell and buy a copy of Minimum Paige!

South Pole playing in the Online New England Film Festival!

Ever thought to yourself "Gee, I would like to see Alex Cormack's critically acclaimed award winning Christmas animation South Pole, but I can never get to any showing of it and that dope can't seem to get a store put together on his website so I can buy it." Well, you're in luck! starting today, South Pole is being shown in this years Online New England Film Festival!

So now feel free to sit back and watch South Pole in the comfort of your own home or most likely during breaks at work or when the boss is in the other room (most likely also watching South Pole.)

I'll be at Comically Speaking tomorw

I'll be up at Comically Speaking for the reboot of the DC universe selling some books and drawing some pictures for the fine people of Reading MA. So if you're in the area come on by between 9-3 and I'll be in there somewhere.

I should also mention the Batman should be there as well.

For the record I bet you this whole starting everything over from #1 will last until next summer at the latest, from then on it will be just side stories like "shadow of the bat" is to "Detective Comics" is to "Batman."

Baltimore Comic Con

So this weekend Red Stylo Media sent myself Mark Mullaney (he illustrated and wrote The System of Dr. Canne and Professor Bull and illustrated the story Zombie Cruise) and Kyle Richey (he wrote the story The After Party) down to the Baltimore Comic-Con to promote the Poe Twisted Anthology and our own work as well.

There's Mark Mullaney and myself at the table, the photo was taken by Kyle Richey. Thanks to everybody who stopped by, and especially to those who bought an issue of Tell Tale Cat, Eldorado, and my quickie comic Quarters (more on this comic later).
